Helpful Tips & FAQ’s

Do you travel?

Yes I travel to your home, hotel, or venue where you will be getting ready or for trials. Anything over a 20 mile radius from Naperville, IL, there will be a travel fee of .55/mi. round trip. If you need me to go to more than one location there is a relocation fee of $50.

Do you have a minimum number of people for a wedding party?

Yes, there is a 6 person minimum for Saturday weddings, and 4 person minimum for Friday and Sunday weddings.

Is there a contract that needs to be signed?

I create the contract based on the details of your wedding.  I will send it to you, and you will sign electronically.

Is there a trial run for make-up?

Yes, trials are required for brides.  I can come to you or vice versa for the trial. Its helpful to come with an idea of a make-up look you would like. If you are unsure we can work together to find a beautiful look.  I am available week days from 9:30-3pm, and limited weekend mornings.  Off season has more flexibility.  Natural light is preferred for make-up trials.

Do I put down a deposit?

A deposit of $100 is used to hold your date. It goes towards your total for the wedding day make-up.  Once you decide you’d like to move forward with me, I will invoice you for the deposit to pay online. Deposits are non refundable and non transferable.

Will I have a contract?

Yes, after I receive your deposit, I will send you a questionnaire to fill out online with the details of your wedding.  Then I will send you a contract to sign electronically.  Once signed, your date is secured.

What form of payment do you accept?

You will receive an invoice to pay the balance online using credit/debit cards.  It is due 15 days prior to the event date.  If you are not paying for your bridal party, please collect their payment ahead of time.   This makes for a more pleasant experience on the day of your event, and one less thing to worry about.

Do you need a second artist for large bridal parties and is there a fee?

Time is the determining factor when it comes to deciding whether a second artist is necessary. I will bring a second artist for large bridal parties that I am not able to do on my own.  There is a $35 fee to acquire a second artist. A second travel and parking fee will be determined based on the distance that artist is from.  Whenever possible, artists will try to travel together.

What kind of set up do I need at the location?

I need a large table or desk to set up my things. At hotels, conference rooms are ideal, but a large desk will work in hotel suites.  If there is not one, I can provide it if you tell me in advance. It’s best to be near a window for natural light and an electrical outlet near by. I can bring my own tall chair and lighting if necessary, however most hotels will bring up a tall chair/stool for you if you ask.  In homes, the kitchen or dining room works best.  The second floor and bathrooms are not ideal for make-up application.  Our equipment is very heavy, and challenging to bring upstairs.

How long does a make-up application take?

The day of the wedding, make-up applications take 30-45 minutes depending on the needs of the client.

When should the bride have her make-up done?

The bride should never go in the last place of the timeline. The middle to end of the timeline is best.  I will create a timeline for you.

Will my make-up last and will I need to touch up?

Your make-up should last all day. Most people just need a little translucent compact powder such as M.A.C blot powder for touch ups. I provide a small gloss for over long-wear lipstick, or small sample of regular lipstick for touch-ups.   Sometimes a small concealer is good to have on hand, as well as a tube of  eyelash glue for emergencies.

Helpful Tips for Bride and Bridal Parties:

Please come with clean moisturized skin.

I recommend waxing 3 days prior to make-up applications.

Make-up looks best when brows and lips are waxed/threaded etc.

It easier to keep track with larger bridal parties.

Please refrain from texting and using cell phones while getting your make-up done.

If you’d like, you can bring a picture of a make-up look/looks that you like as a reference.

When sitting in the chair, please sit up straight and keep legs uncrossed.

Please refrain from eating and drinking while in the make-up chair.

If anyone needs help with their skin prior to the wedding, I can give you a complimentary skin care analysis and help with a new routine.

I knew as soon as I saw Deanna’s work on The Knot, I wanted her to do my wedding makeup. Her style is simple and classic. I looked beautiful, but not overdone. I do not wear much makeup to begin with so I was worried about having someone who would pile on dark eye showdown and heavy foundation. Deanna’s work was exactly what I was looking for!

Deanna is amazing! She listened to me and gave me exactly the look I wanted for my son’s wedding. She also did the make-up for my mom and my niece. They were both extremely pleased. I had many comments on my makeup at the wedding, many saying I looked 10 years younger! I wish I could have Deanna do my makeup every morning!

Additionally, she was very accommodating of our time constraint between hair appointments and photos. I highly recommend Deanna!
